Age Level and Family Ministries CHILDREN MINISTRIES Worship: Auburn UMC strives to share in ministry to children from infancy through 5th grade. Weekly worship at 11:00 am service features a gathering time for children, children’s message, and child friendly activity bulletins. Education: Children of all ages in pre-K through 12th grade are encouraged to join in weekly sunday school classes. Children are grouped by ages for Sunday School. Age groups include: pre-school through Kindergarten, 1st to 3rd grade, and 4 & 5th grade. Students in grades 6-12 are considered youth and meet together as one group. Vacation Bible School – Because we all need to have some good news, food, and fun! Our annual VBS features the newest curriculum, dedicated helpers, and a commitment to excellence, because children matter to us! Vacation Bible school is planned for each summer. YOUTH MINISTRIES The Youth of Auburn UMC are an active, playful, and Christ-centered bunch striving to be the Church today. Youth in grades 6-12 are encouraged to meet with leaders monthly. Activities include a fellowship meal, fun activities and a Christ-centered activity or mission activity. Youth members plan activities that demonstrate their commitment to Christ such as music programs, Youth Sunday, act as greeters and ushers and assist with child-care needs during special programs. The youth plan an annual trip to Ressurection to meet with other youth members from all over the Holston Conference and celebrate with music and fellowship. SUNDAY SCHOOL Join us for Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. Play, study, grow, and serve with us on Sunday mornings. Classes for adults include multiple topical studies. All classes are open to new attendees. Adult sunday school begins with weekly devotions in the sanctuary and groups move to classes for further study and inquiry. Additional sunday school classrooms should be available as the lower-level renovations near completion. SMALL GROUPS Small group meetings begin throughout the year and are topical based. Small group studies are committed adults and youth that want to learn more about God’s word and service. Some group studies directly study the Bible and its relevance and meaning in today’s world. Some small groups gather in members’ homes for fellowship and study, games and relating the word to current issues. CAMPING Auburn UMC supports our local Holston Conference camp – Camp Dickenson. Children from our church enjoy the out of doors and studying God’s word in a rustic setting along the New River. Camps vary in age levels and topics. Auburn UMC has traditionally assisted families in need who desire to attend a summer camp. Camp Dickenson has much more to offer than just summer camps for children.
